Blonde Krystal Steal didn't have far to go to break into the adult-film industry, having been born and raised in Orange County, California, not far from the industry's center in Los Angeles. Her legal name (birth name) is Brandy McCleary. Her parents are of Irish, Dutch and Scottish origin.

Prior to her film career, Steal started working as a stripper with a fake ID when she was seventeen years old. While she was dancing in a strip club, she mentioned to a friend in the industry that she would be interested in doing an adult-film to see what it was like. Arrangements were made and she made her film debut in 2001 for a film called Screaming Orgasms 4.

Steal is known for her attitude during filming. In the behind the scenes clip of the movie Flesh Hunter, she is seen complaining to her fellow performer for ejaculating on one of her eyes. Afterwards, she is seen abruptly walking off and rushing into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her. However, Steal rebukes stating that her attitude is only an act she plays on film, as she finds it difficult to play the opposite type.

She had an off-screen romantic relationship with fellow pornographic actress Sky Lopez.
Steal declares herself a big fan of Marilyn Manson and plans to retire from the industry around 2008.

I always said, "I want to be a dancer. I want to be a stripper." And everything I pretty much said I was going to do when I was younger, I've done. I mean, except for ... I haven't gotten quite as far as I'd like to in the porn industry. I'm not quite where I'd like to be, yet. I haven't accomplished that.
But I started dancing when I was 17. I had a little fake check cashing ID, and I went to a shit hole strip club where they didn't really cause too much waves for IDs. I was one of the better looking girls there, so I did pretty good. I worked there for maybe about a year. And then I started doing bachelor parties and higher end parties up in Beverly Hills.
And then I just decided why not try doing movies and see if it's something I could even do. Did one, and here I am today. I love my job.

My dream, even when I'm old, no matter whether in porn or not, is to have a big cat sanctuary. I watch a lot of "Animal Planet", and I see where people have ranches and they keep like tigers that were in circuses or ones that have been taken away from people that have owned them and abused ones, and they just keep them and make sure they have a good life. They don't train them or anything. That's been my dream, and it still is. To have a big cat sanctuary, and to just look after and take care of big cats.
